Uber & Lyft Accidents
Uber and Lyft both cover their drivers with a $1 million insurance policy while they are on duty. You can bring a claim against this policy if the rideshare driver was on duty and caused an accident that resulted in your injuries. This is true whether you were an Uber or Lyft passenger, a pedestrian, or a driver or passenger in another vehicle.
This policy includes uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage. If you were an Uber or Lyft passenger and your rideshare vehicle was hit by an uninsured/underinsured driver, you can bring a claim against the rideshare company’s UM/UIM insurance policy.
Uber’s and Lyft’s $1 million insurance policy does not apply to accidents caused when a driver is not on duty. If you were hit by an Uber or Lyft driver while their driver app was off, your claim would be against the driver’s personal insurance policy.
